My Back Yard Garden... Looking Good!

I ate the first ear of sweet corn from my garden this week.
It was very juicy and sweet!
Next I checked my peach tree.
They have been thinned but are still in clusters like grapes.
I ate a peach, but they need another week or two to sweeten up.
My dinner plate Hibiscus are producing very large and beautiful flowers this Summer.
Can you still see my bear hiding in the flowers?
The Red Delicious apples are looking great, but as you see they are not red and delicious yet.

A Day at Huntington Beach California

On August 15, 2011 we went to Huntington Beach to play in the waves.
Amy buried Matthew in the sand
But he fought his way out!
Vincent loved splashing his feet in the waves.
A movie of Vincent playing in the ocean.
Oh! Mama this is great!
I ate some seaweed for lunch.  Yuck, it doesn't taste like chicken!
Holly was very busy capturing this great event in pictures.
 Our humble beach site.
Amy and Matthew having fun in the waves.
I took a stroll down by the Huntington Pier and watched the waves crash into the pylons.
It was an absolute beautiful day at the beach!

Richard making "Friendship Bread" for the 1st time.

For the first 10 days I muched the doe and added some flour, sugar and milk.
Then on day 10 I added more flour, sugar and milk and mixed the doe and added chopped pecans, chopped dates and shredded coconut.
It turned out great and it tastes really good!

Canning Cheddar and Nacho Cheese

On Friday April 29, 2011 I decided to can Cheddar and Nacho Cheese.

Heating the bottles for 20 min. at 250 degrees.  Then fill the pint jars.

Put the sealers and lids on the jars and then put them in the canner for a 20 min. boil.
After they boil for 20 minutes they are done.  Cool them on a rack
and label and put away after they cool.
I was able to can 18 pints of Cheddar Cheese and 6 pints of Nacho Cheese.
