SEPTEMBER- Canning Peaches, Apples, Plums and Prunes!

I have a new peach tree that just started producing peaches this year.  I picked nearly a bushel of peaches from it and I have now canned nearly two cases to eat this winter!
 Today was September 22, 2012.
Then on September 24 we canned quite a few jars of Raspberry-Plum Jam.
There was still time so we canned more peaches...
Then on September 26th we canned more Plum Jam and Apple Pie filling.

While we were at it we decided to make a Plum, a Prune and an Apple pie!

On September 27 I canned 11 quarts of Peach Pie Filling!

SEPTEMBER- Canning Peaches & Prunes

I had a bumper crop of peaches and Stanley prunes this year.

After canning a case of 12 quart peaches I picked a few Stanley prunes and canned 11 quarts of them.

All of this fruit is starting to fill up my food storage shelves!

Bees in My Apple Tree - April 22, 2012

This morning my apple tree was buzzing with honey bees!
I took these this morning as Mother nature was doing her work!
It looks like another very good crop of apples!
Just think of it: apple pie, apple juice, fresh sliced apples!  Be patient... just a few short months!

Love Utah Weather!!! From Snow to Sunshine!

This is what I woke up to this morning!  5 inches of snow!
The daffodils were covered in snow.
and so were my peach blossoms.
Then the sun came out and I opened our swimming pool!
Let the Summer fun begin!
I love Utah weather!
All this in one single day!!!
Happy Easter!!!

My Back Yard Garden... Looking Good!

I ate the first ear of sweet corn from my garden this week.
It was very juicy and sweet!
Next I checked my peach tree.
They have been thinned but are still in clusters like grapes.
I ate a peach, but they need another week or two to sweeten up.
My dinner plate Hibiscus are producing very large and beautiful flowers this Summer.
Can you still see my bear hiding in the flowers?
The Red Delicious apples are looking great, but as you see they are not red and delicious yet.

Grafting Peach and Plum Trees
Cut the new peach branch to be grafted onto a plum tree.
Prep the plum tree and insert the peach branch to be grafted in.
Wrap the graft with tape and secure the new branch.
Dress the grafted area with plant dressing so it will heal.

This last one is a smaller graft of two types of peach trees.
